GEOLINK
PROJECT

Tanjug – News Agency

Complete editorial system and news portal

Tanjug – News Agency
β€œ

Geolink developed a complete editorial system and public news portal for Tanjug, with custom PHP/MySQL administration for managing news, photography, video and audio content, sections and other agency services.

About the project

Geolink developed a complete editorial and web system for Tanjug News Agency, designed to support the everyday workflow of a professional news organization.

The project went far beyond the development of a public news website. A central editorial system was created for entering, editing, organizing and publishing large volumes of news and multimedia content.

The platform was developed as a custom PHP/MySQL solution tailored to the specific processes of a news agency and a newsroom publishing a high volume of information throughout the day.

Challenge

Developing a platform for a national news agency required a reliable system capable of supporting intensive newsroom operations and a large volume of continuously created, edited and published content.

In addition to traditional text news, the system needed to support photography, photo galleries, video and audio content, special sections, archives and various agency services.

A major challenge was organizing a large amount of information across sections and thematic areas while allowing journalists and editors to work quickly and efficiently.

At the same time, the complex editorial platform had to be tightly integrated with the public website, where the latest and most important information could be presented to users immediately.

Our solution

Geolink developed a complete custom editorial system based on PHP and MySQL and tailored to Tanjug's organization and newsroom workflow.

The central administration system enabled news entry, editing, categorization and publishing, as well as management of photography, video and audio content, special sections and other agency content.

The public portal was connected directly to the editorial platform and organized into numerous thematic areas including daily news, Serbia, the Balkans, world news, economy, culture, science, arts and sport.

Dedicated sections were also developed for photography, video and audio content, archives, special reports and other services characteristic of a professional news agency.

This provided the newsroom with a centralized platform for managing multiple content types and controlling their presentation on the public portal.

Design & technology

The application architecture was tailored to the requirements of a professional news agency and enabled centralized management of news, sections, photography, multimedia, users and archives.

Custom development allowed the editorial functionality to follow the actual workflow of journalists and editors rather than forcing the newsroom to adapt to the limitations of generic software.

Special attention was given to platform stability, administration speed and efficient handling of a high volume of daily publications.
