Geolink developed InfoMedia Balkan as a regional online news portal for publishing news, analysis, magazine content, sports, lifestyle topics, columns and video reports.
The portal was built as a custom PHP/MySQL solution with its own administration system tailored to the daily workflow of an online newsroom and the fast publication of large amounts of content.
InfoMedia Balkan was designed as a regional media platform covering relevant topics across the region while providing space for useful, interesting and original content from different areas.
Challenge
The main challenge was to develop a system capable of quickly publishing and organizing a large volume of articles while keeping content clearly structured by category and easy for readers to navigate.
The news portal needed to support multiple content formats, featured and most-read stories, video content, advertising positions, breaking updates and frequent homepage changes.
At the same time, the administration system needed to allow editorial staff to work efficiently without requiring technical knowledge or developer intervention for everyday publishing.
Our solution
Geolink developed a complete custom PHP/MySQL portal with an administration system tailored to the editorial workflow of InfoMedia Balkan.
Content was organized into clear categories such as news, politics, magazine, sport, lifestyle, columns and video.
The administration system enabled editors to add and manage articles, categories, images, video content, featured stories and other portal elements.
Special attention was given to homepage organization, positioning of current and most-read content, as well as advertising and promotional areas.
